Sport fishing

Manzanillo fishing is characterized by blue water fishing from 5 to 25 nautical miles offshore. Fishing off Manzanillo varies with season due to the influences of the California Current and the Norecuatorial Current. Cooler water arrives in late November/early December due to the influence of the California Current and this cooler water pushes sailfish and other warm water species south. Manzanillo fishing then becomes characterized by catches of marlin and tuna. Surface water temperatures then significantly cool by late February bringing in Mako Shark, Blue Shark, and very large schools of Yellowfin Tuna. By late March/early April warmer sea surface temperatures announce the arrival of sailfish and Manzanillo fishing for sailfish and dorado (MahiMahi or dolphinfish) begins to pick up. Fishing Manzanillo from late May through to late November is the best time for sailfish and the warm water tropical marlin species, along with dorado and roosterfish that move into Manzanillo with the Norecuatorial Current. However, fishing Manzanillo from December through to the end of April is equally exciting due to the presence of Striped Marlin and huge schools of Pacific Yellowfin Tuna that provide outstanding action. For successful fishing off Manzanillo, you need to be prepared to go further offshore and consider a full days fishing of 8 to 10 hours.

I offer 8 hours sport fishing at $600 usd for the boat. This includes soft drinks and snacks, and the wages of the Captain and Deckhand. Tips are extra and at your discretion. I do not supply alcoholic drinks, however, you are welcome to bring on board your own alcoholic beverages.

A shorter period of 6 hours fishing at usd $450 for the whole boat is available, however, the best option is 8 hours fishing for your party at $600 usd.

Eight hours fishing is recommended as it allows us to venture further offshore out to 25 nautical miles in search of clear blue water, thermoclines, and currents. Indeed, a full day of fishing (10 hours) is ideal. Extra hours are charged at 60 usd/hour for the boat.

During the months of January to April we target Pacific Yellowfin Tuna and Marlin. From May through to December we target Pacific Sailfish, Marlin, and Dorado.

Throughout the year I chum for sharks. From late November through to April I am targeting Blue Sharks and Makos. From May to December I am targeting Silky Sharks and Threshers.
